Privacy policy

This policy explains how Arya Vysya Sangam (“we”, “the Sangam”) handles personal information on aryavysyasangam.com and in the Arya Vysya Sangam mobile app. Both use the same member accounts and the same database.

Effective 24 October 2026

1. Information we collect

When you register or edit your profile: your name, email address, mobile number, password (stored only as a secure hash), father’s name, gender, age or date of birth if you give it, gothrams, address (house number, colony, city or village, mandal, district, state, country, pin code), your Sangam and role, and an optional profile photo.

When you use community features: event replies and guest counts, poll votes, fundraising pledges, community hub posts and responses, job and internship postings and applications, support requests (including any documents and bank or UPI details a requester chooses to publish), offers of help, matrimony profiles (including the contact details you give for the Sangam team), introduction requests, sathram listings, event photos and video links you share.

Technical information: your IP address, browser or app version and, for the app, a device name and a random installation identifier (not a hardware identifier), recorded with sign-ins and in security logs. The website uses cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your chosen Sangam.

2. Who can see your information

  • Anyone can see your name, photo, role, Sangam and address as shown on your member profile, and content you publish to public sections (events, hub posts, job listings).
  • Your phone number and email are masked for everyone except you on member profiles and the directory.
  • Office bearers’ phone numbers in the leadership pages are shown in full only to signed-in members.
  • Matrimony profiles are visible only to signed-in members, after review by the Sangam team. Contact details are never shown to members; the Sangam team uses them to introduce families.
  • Support requests are published after review. Visitors see the town only; signed-in members can see the requester’s contact details and address so they can help directly.
  • When you apply for an opportunity or offer help, your name, email and phone are shared with the member who posted it.
  • The Sangam team and administrators can see member records to review listings, prevent misuse and answer requests.

3. How we use information

To run your account and the member directory, connect members with their local Sangam, show events and community activity, review matrimony profiles and support requests, deliver emails you ask for (such as a temporary password), keep the service secure (for example limiting repeated sign-in attempts and detecting fake profiles), and answer your questions.

We do not sell personal information and we do not show advertising. The Sangam does not collect or hold money: pledges and offers of help are records of intent, and any payment happens directly between people.

4. Service providers and other services

The website and database are hosted by our web hosting provider in order to run the service. Emails are sent through our hosting mail service. The website uses Google Analytics to count visits, Google Fonts for typefaces, and on some pages Google Translate and embedded YouTube videos; these Google services may set their own cookies. The mobile app does not include analytics or advertising code; when you open a video, map or link from the app it opens in YouTube, Google Maps or your browser, whose own privacy policies apply.

5. The mobile app

  • The app needs only internet access. Your profile photo is chosen through the phone’s own photo picker or camera app, only when you decide to change it.
  • Your sign-in is kept in the phone’s secure storage (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain), never in plain text.
  • Public content (such as the home page, Sangam list, sathrams and gothralu) may be saved on your phone so the app works offline.
  • All communication with our servers is encrypted (HTTPS).

6. Keeping and deleting your information

We keep your account while it is active. You can correct your details at any time from your profile. You can ask us to delete your account in the app (Profile › Delete account) or on the account deletion page. Your profile is hidden and signed out straight away, and we delete your personal data — profile, photos, matrimony profiles, listings, applications, replies and votes — within 30 days. Community posts you wrote may remain without your name. Security logs may be kept for a limited period to protect the service.

7. Security, children and changes

Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, access to member-only data is checked on our servers, and repeated sign-in attempts are limited. No online service is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and tell us if you notice misuse.

The service is meant for adults and families. Children under 13 should not register themselves; parents or guardians may manage family information. Matrimony profiles are for people aged 18 and over.

We will update this page when our practices change and show the new effective date above.
